Solang Valley Travel Guide
Solang is a beautiful region of Himachal Pradesh, India. The place is located 46 km in south of the Shimla. At a height of 1,600m, the place is called on the name of Shoolini devi. Every year in June, a festival is celebrated in the honor of the goddess, featuring 3 day Mela at the central Thodo grounds. Solan was the capital of the former generous state, Bhagat. It is also considered as the “Mushroom city of India” as of the huge mushroom farming in the region. Solan also experiences a high productivity of tomatoes and exports in different areas of India. The city is positioned between the route of Shimla and Chandigarh.
How to reach:
Air: The closest airport is at Shimla, which is located at a distance of 55 km. Flights from Shimla are operated from Delhi and Kullu. Taxis are simply hired from Shimla airport to reach Solan. Delhi is the closest international airport located at 315 km.
Rail: Solan is well linked by the world heritage railway – the Kalka-Shimla rail network. Kalka in turn is a wide gauge that links the city to other main towns – Delhi, Shimla, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Amritsar and others. You can hire the local taxis outside the railway station to reach the city. Bus service is also available.
Road : Solan is accessible by road and found during the route of Shimla and Chandigarh. Regular bus services are available to link both the towns with Solan. Chandigarh is located a few minutes of drive from Kasauli while Delhi can be reached in 5 hours.
Best Time visit:
Solang Valley is visited throughout the year. Though, the best time to enjoy a holiday in Solang Valley is in winter time. At this time, the climate is delightful and perfect for sightseeing and enjoying a number of activities. In winter time, you can take pleasure in the outdoor activities as the weather in this time is wonderful.
